MOT - What happens if my car fails?
If your vehicle fails its MOT, it therefore does not meet legal requirements and must be repaired to comply with MOT test standards. The notes on your MOT report will detail the work needed to meet these standards and our centre staff will be more than happy to explain the work required.
If you disagree with the test result you may appeal against the decision to the DVSA within 14 working days of the decision. In order to do this you will need to obtain a VT17 form from the centre or the DVSA website and ensure that the condition of your vehicle is not changed.
The DVSA, the government body for MOT testing, will then offer you an appointment to re-examine your vehicle and if successful some or the entire test fee will be refunded. For more information on this please visit the DVSA website.
